But it's not just about features; we've also fine-tuned the user experience. It's now keyboard-friendly, allowing you to effortlessly navigate between windows with a simple press of the W key. Plus, you can access stock information, news, and financials directly from the widget.

The issue

Due to a config error in our cron jobs, some system-level overrides weren't allowed. Specifically, we couldn't override the properties `[core]num_years_history` and `[core]num_quarters_history`, which caused a bug in our processing pipeline. This glitch messed up the financial data flow for our instruments (symbols) and led to missing annual financial info for years before 2020 in the 'Annual' tab.

What has changed?

• Speed optimization: Fey is now significantly faster. We’ve managed to cut the load time from 2-4 seconds to virtually 0 seconds.
• State management update: We’ve moved from global app state to page state, fetching only the data required for the current page. By transitioning from our sync engine to SWR, data requests are more targeted, robust, and efficient.
• Auth simplification: The authentication process has been streamlined by reducing roles and tokens. By removing unnecessary network requests for authentication, we’ve made sign-in smoother.
• Local storage caching: Key states are now stored in local storage, facilitating even faster and smoother subsequent loads.
• Product simplification: We’ve removed app state from the backend, making the product purely client-driven. This change aligns with our philosophy of user-centered design, delivering a more responsive and intuitive experience.

Why we did this

Our passwordless authentication system is designed to provide enhanced security and a better user experience. You can log in to Fey using just your email address, and we'll send you a unique link to access your account. This eliminates the risks associated with poor password choices and management, as well as the frustration of forgotten passwords. Our magic links expire after 5 minutes, and we display the location from where the authentication link was requested for additional transparency and security.

We’ve also put significant effort into crafting the design and user experience of our authentication system. From the email design to the subtle animations, making the process more engaging and intuitive.

With the latest update, searching within our app is more intuitive and efficient than ever before.
Firstly, we've eliminated unnecessary clicks and navigation by automatically replacing the current page with the selected result. This means that you can quickly and easily find what you're looking for without having to navigate back and forth.

Additionally, our search now takes into account where you are in the app and offers contextual results. For example, if you're viewing a company profile, the search suggestions will include the company's peers.

At the beginning of this year, we required all Fey users to participate in onboarding calls. However, we recognized that these calls can be time-consuming, so we re-designed our onboarding process to be more self-service oriented. This allows our customers to quickly get up to speed without the need for personalized assistance.

We've made our data sheet pages more accessible. We've enhanced visibility for mouse users by adding a distinct button and improved iconography, and we've also surfaced shortcuts next to each section's header.

Why we did this

Fey emphasizes seamless keyboard navigation, but we also invest considerable effort in ensuring comprehensive mouse accessibility. However, we discovered that some users were unable to access certain pages due to the subtle nature of our buttons. To address this issue, we have introduced distinct icons for each section and incorporated user-friendly, clickable buttons for a more intuitive mouse navigation experience.

While we remain focused on our other assets, it's clear that crypto has become a global phenomenon, with more than 44.15 million accounts now holding at least a non-zero balance of Bitcoin.
